I think I’m pretty safe in saying that, typically, when we hear words like power, motion, comfort, and reclining sofa, there are other words like stylish, modern, and fun that might be the last to come to mind for many of us.
After today’s post, though, you may think differently. This modern living room definitely proves that comfortable spaces don’t need to be boring, or lacking in style.
Here’s why we think think this modern living room retreat is the perfect mix:
It’s not afraid to be comfortable.
Have you ever designed a space that looked SO good but, when it came time to live in it, you realized that it was completely uncomfortable?
This room is the opposite of that. It’s well designed and stylish, but also happily embraces our Siri Reclining Sofa which, even with it’s sleeker, modern look, doesn’t hide the fact that comfy, relaxed days are ahead.
It gets the mix.
When designing spaces to be every-day comfortable but still unique and stylish, there’s a certain mix that makes it work.
In this case, our stylists mixed the larger scale and plush comfort of the reclining sofa with the smaller scale and unique shape of our Grayson Chair (in gray), and mixed and matched tables for a designer look.
{Not to say that you couldn’t still use the matching love seat or power reclining chair with the sofa. Consider adding an accent chair in a complimentary fabric as well, though, for a less expected, more custom look.}
Contrast.
Our team used contrast to full effect by using an eclectic mix of fabrics, textures, finishes, and patterns throughout the space.
One of the most noticeable areas of contrast is the light fabric and softer curves of the sofa against the dark wood, clean lines, and glass top of the Warren Oak cocktail and end tables.
Trending colors, pattern mix, and some fun.
The fresh take on geometric pattern and the trending color palette of our Arazad area rug was, in my humble opinion, the perfect choice for this modern living room. It’s a really fun compliment to the light, neutral fabric of the Siri sofa and the Grayson chair.
More striped pattern variations were added in the Creighton Citron accent pillows and throw for a relaxed pattern mix.
Accessories, like the whimsical bulls and unstructured plant, help to further soften the space and make it feel even more inviting.
Bookshelf styling.
And when it comes to styling bookshelves (or any space for that matter), Steph never disappoints.
We love how this one came together! (It’s actually the Delmar Manitou Room Divider, which multitasks as a bookshelf.)
Getting the look.
Even if you prefer a different color palette, or another style of reclining sofa is more suited to your taste, using the design template our team laid out here should result in a relaxed, inviting, stylish and functional space perfect for any home.
