Whether we live in live in small houses or larger ones, most of us are looking for the best ways to utilize the space in our living room, or to add family room storage to keep our spaces organized and clutter free.
With that in mind, here are some simple ways to add more storage without taking up a lot of extra room:
These multitaskers not only give you a soft place to rest your feet and a surface to set a tray of accessories, goodies, or drinks, but they also provide the perfect place to hide things away. Extra pillows, toys, and any number of items that you want accessible but not in plain sight.
{The above image features the Kenton ottoman, and you’ll find more family room storage options here.}
Chests are a versatile piece of furniture that can work in any room of the house, but we like the idea of using a taller chest with drawers in place of an end table if it works in the space.
The Raylan chest worked perfectly in the space below!
Seating with storage is unique and innovative. It might also be one of my favorite ways to add more function and family room storage without taking up even an inch of extra space.
For example, the chaise in our Raphael sectional (above and below) opens to reveal a storage compartment inside. So clever, and a great idea for any family room.
{We show the Raphael in gray in our stores and on our website, but it can also be custom ordered in the fabric of your choice.}
The Queen Sleeper sectional below (in stores) not only offers storage, but the chaise is reversible so it can be switched to fit your family room layout. And, as the name implies, it’s a sleeper. Wow.
As you’re shopping for tables and bookshelves, you may want to consider options that have at least some doors and/or drawers. They provide perfect little spaces to tuck things away out of sight.
A media console is perfect is perfect for housing TV components and other items, but if you’re looking for even more storage and display without taking up more square footage, consider consider adding a hutch or shelves.
If you prefer open tables without doors or drawers, using items like baskets, bins and suitcases can add a unique spin to your decorating while providing great storage options at the same time.
