April showers bring May flowers… and potentially the need for a space to kick off muddy boots and hang up the raincoats and umbrellas. Fall and Winter bring heavy coats, scarves and more boots. And whatever the season, it’s nice to have a place to keep it all organized.
Enter – the mudroom. Not every home comes with one and, for those who do, size and options can vary greatly from very large to very small. But no matter what size or situation your mudroom is in, it’s always fun to see what others are doing and collect ideas from their creativity.
We’ve rounded up 10 mudrooms with inspiration and ideas that just might work in your space!
1. Organized hallway.
A hallway that makes the most of both sides, and makes a statement with the black and white.
2. Keep it classic.
You really can’t go wrong with clean lines, simple details and a classic combination of gray and white.
3. Mudroom corner.
Mudroom’s don’t necessarily need to be long and narrow – this mudroom proves that you can make the most of a corner space!
4. Narrow space?
No problem – you can still fit cubbies and a bench! And a barn board accent wall to take it to the next level.

5. Style statement.
One of the fun things about decorating is the ability to add your own unique spin – like shiplap and vintage lockers. Love the look!
6. Crazy for color.
It’s fun to add unexpected color in at least one room of the house, and what better place to experiment than the mudroom. A great way to start or end the day…
7. Barn door bliss.
A creative way to hide the clutter, and a very good excuse to use a barn door.

8. Statement floor.
The gray herringbone patterned floor of this mudroom that we recently styled (pillows/accessories from Schneiderman’s) had us at hello, but we also liked the way they incorporated various storage options along with a functional bench.
And the little organization station with the white board/cork board? Yes, please.
9. Garage solution.
And when there just isn’t any room in the house? Create an organized and welcoming solution in the garage.
10. Creative kenneling.
Creating a place for pets is an important consideration in many homes these days, and Highmark Builders had it covered in this mudroom that I snapped during the Artisan Home Tour this year. (apologies for the picture quality – iPad pic.)
