The Friday 5 – (Almost) Fall Edition

Kids are returning to school, the weather is slowly shifting, and our thoughts can’t help but turn toward fall – thus the fall inspiration in today’s Friday 5.

1.  CREATE AN INVITING FALL HOME.

It’s amazing how just a few simple changes can transform your space from summer into a cozy fall retreat.  This post has some great suggestions on how to do it.

2.  DIY DRINK COASTERS.

Do you DIY?  Sometimes it’s fun to look, but then actually doing the projects can seem a little overwhelming.

This DIY seems pretty simple and it incorporates the popular natural wood trend.  Would be fun to try this with fall leaves.  Get the tutorial here, and get more ideas for crafting with fall leaves here.

3.  COLOR SCHEMES.

Fall brings so much color inspiration, and paint stores are now offering an easy way to identify what paint color(s) might give you that same look.  Great idea!  (Sherwin Williams Chip-It)

4.  CONTAINER GARDENS.

If you’re looking for creative ideas for fall container gardens, Midwest Living has 25 of them here.

Add autumn spice to your landscape with any of these bright and beautiful container gardens.

5.  MINNESOTA STATE FAIR.

Of course we can’t talk about fall without mentioning the Minnesota State Fair.  There’s lots to do and see there, but a big draw seems to be the large variety of foods that are available to try.

You can find a list of the new MN State Fair foods for 2015 here, and if you’re looking for or wondering about a specific food, try the MN State Fair Food Finder.

(I tried deep fried oreos for the first time last year and… oh. my.  Delicious!)
