Our recipe and dining furniture favorite today come from Lindsey, a sales associate in our Woodbury store. (if you’re just joining us, the first post in this “recipe and furniture favorites” series is here).
Lindsey’s sharing a great way to use leftover turkey and here’s what she has to say: Turkey Tetrazzini is a family pleasing recipe to use up left over turkey and gravy.
It is an add-in-leftovers kind of casserole – no rules!! For example, the curry gives it a fuller flavor but if you’re not a fan, leave it out. You could add poultry seasoning and/or garlic powder instead. Adding peas is also an option.
yield: 6-8 servings. Reheats well.
Cook the spaghetti to the al dente stage, reserve 3/4 cup of the pasta water. Cook the celery and onion in 1 tablespoon of olive oil until tender. Combine all of the ingredients, except the bread crumbs/stuffing and melted butter. Place into a buttered baking dish ( 9 x 13 ). Mix the bread crumbs or stuffing with the melted butter, place on top of the Tettrazini and bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes, or until bubbling on the edges.
One of Lindsey’s favorites from our current dining selection is the updated traditional Universal Proximity Collection. The design features a wood inlaid patterned top, trimmed edge, and a gorgeous tapered leg. Each piece is crafted of figure cherry veneers and hardwood solids and finished in a dark, lightly distressed Sumatra finish.

Proximity offers three different chair styles that can be mixed and matched to your liking and, no matter which one you choose, they’ll make a great design statement.

This series of posts really isn’t all about potatoes, but since we talked about sweet potatoes yesterday, we wanted to give mashed potatoes equal billing! Besides, these aren’t just any mashed potatoes, and they happen to be one of the favorite recipes of Linda, who is a Sales Associate at our Roseville store.
Here’s what she had to say:
I make Refrigerator Potatoes (aka Make-Ahead Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes) every Thanksgiving. It was my mother’s recipe and all of my children, their spouses, and in-laws use the same recipe. They’re perfect for big dinners that require lots of last minute prep because you can prepare them the day before, refrigerate, and bake the day of your dinner. They’re great by themselves or with gravy!
The day before: Peel and cook potatoes, drain and mash until smooth. Add remaining ingredients (except for butter) and mix until blended. Place in greased 2 qt. casserole and dot with 2 tablespoons of butter. Refrigerate overnight.
Thanksgiving Day: remove potatoes and let them reach room temperature. Bake covered at 350° for about 1 hour. Remove cover and test with a sharp knife inserted into the middle of potatoes. If still cold increase the time to make sure potatoes are hot in the middle.
Linda is still using her Aspenhome dining set that was her first Schneiderman’s purchase and she still loves it!
Of our current selection, though, she would choose the Mango Dining Collection. She likes the furniture and the fact that families with kids have the option of choosing a bench instead of chairs.
The Mango dining furniture is constructed from Mango veneer and hardwood and highlighted with light edge distressing and metal accents. The table comes with a self-storing butterfly leaf.
