I think we would all agree that the dining table is an important, possibly the most important, piece of furniture in any dining room. But what shape that dining table should be is not as definite.
If you’re fortunate enough to have a large dining space, your options may be wide open. If so, what you choose may just come down to personal preference.
Much of the time, though, your table choice will be dictated by room size and shape.
Round dining table.
Round tables can work great in a variety of spaces but they are an especially good option for:
1. Rooms that are square.
2. Smaller rooms, or open floor plans where the dining space is in close proximity to the kitchen and/or living space. Obviously you still have to consider the shape of the space, but round tables can be much easier to maneuver around in a small space or open area where smooth traffic flow is a concern.
3. Larger rooms where your options are open but you want something with softer lines and no hard edges. Or, you just like the look!
Oval dining table.
Having the flexibility to change a round into a larger oval dining table when it’s needed is a really nice option to have, if your dining room can accommodate it.
Make sure to measure your space, not only for the round, but for the full-size of the oval once all the leaves are in place.
If you’ve decided that a round dining table is in your immediate future, we’ve rounded up some really great options for you from our website (also sold in our stores).
The majority of the dining tables shown in the round-up can be converted to an oval dining table by adding a leaf or leaves. Most also have matching chairs, but can also be mixed and matched to create a more personalized look.
What’s your dining table preference? Round or rectangular?
