Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year – Marsala

Each year Pantone announces it’s color of the year – the color it predicts will be at the forefront of interiors, fashion and more for the next 12 months – and this year the color is Marsala!

Here’s what Pantone has to say about it:

“Dramatic and at the same time grounding, the rich and full-bodied red-brown Marsala brings color warmth into home interiors.  Whether in a flat or textured material, or with a matte or gloss finish, this highly varietal shade combines dramatically with neutrals, including warmer taupes and grays. Because of its burnished undertones, sultry Marsala is highly compatible with amber, umber and golden yellows, greens in both turquoise and teal, and blues in the more vibrant range.”

It seems that some years we as consumers are in sync with Pantone’s choice and sometimes not, so it will be interesting to see if Marsala is a hit.  The reviews I’ve seen so far are mixed.

I’m not a super big fan of the color itself, but can see how it could be great when paired with the another great color or two.

Will you be a fan of Marsala?  What has been your favorite Pantone Color of the Year to date?
