Convey it With Color – GREEN!

First of all, did you take advantage of the free subscription to Midwest Home Magazine? Seriously, it’s an unbelievable offer for a really great magazine. See my previous post to sign up for your free year subscription.

Now, on to my favorite color ever – GREEN! Perfect for Spring in Minnesota. My tulips and daffodils are just starting to peak their leaves out of the ground, I’m so excited! Enough of my rambling, on to Chad’s article about the delightful, fresh, fun, brilliant, versatile GREEN!

Green is life. Abundant in nature, green signifies growth, renewal, health, environment, peace and ecology. Green is a restful color with some of the same calming attributes of blue. Like blue, time moves faster in a green room. Because there is a natural balance of warm and cool undertones, the color green denotes balance, harmony, and stability. Use several shades of green for a fresh, springtime feel. Green with blue produces echoes of nature – water and forest and can denote new beginnings and growth. Green with brown, tan , or beige syas organic or recycled. Bamboo greens are hot right now.

Green is definitely restful, peaceful, and fresh! With today’s focus on green energy and green living, the color has come to symbolize a complete movement!

You’ll love all the ways you can decorate with green. Create your own little zen paradise with a green living space in cool green tones and natural accents, you won’t go wrong.

You can find a variety of green options at Schneiderman’s Furniture. Take a look at the way green is used to highlight and accent this Origin Bed from Aspen Furniture. Also, this bed is made with environmentally sustainable bamboo panels, so the bed is “green” and it uses the color “green”!

The Sun is Shining and Schneiderman’s is Bringing You Yellow!

Convey it with Color – Yellow

Yellow promotes optimism, enlightenment, and happiness.  (I can tell you that when I see the first daffodil come up in spring after a long Minnesota winter, I can tell you that I am nothing but optimistic, enlightened, and happy).  Yellow will advance from surrounding colors, create energy and promote creative thoughts. Where other colors darken from saturation, yellow is the one color that becomes brighter with more saturation. It is generally considered the happiest of all colors. One word of caution when decorating with sunnier yellows…be prepared to prime and paint multiple coats for good coverage. This color is most popular used in small, confined spaces to let the sun in, children’s spaces and eating and gathering areas. Bring the sunshine in and decorate with yellow!

Convey it With Color – ORANGE

Continuing with our Color Series, we bring you Orange!

With orange, there is no in between on the acceptance of color. It is definitely NOT neutral. Either you love it or you hate it. It is a fun and flamboyant color that radiates warmth and energy; is has all of the physical force of red, but is less frenetic, intense and passionate. Orange tones are big this season and provide a bright flash of delight when paired with cool hues or neutral tones. While not for the faint of heart, you can make a bold statement by covering an entire sofa or chair or by painting one wall in this bright tone. Or, use it to bring a little extra pop to an area by adding just a few accessories in full-on orange: a throw pillow, a blanket, a piece of glass art. You’ll love the modern and striking effect you can have with this gorgeous and stunning color.
