Well, here we are… the second post in our Tuesday Minnesota Casual home series!
If you missed the first post, we shared this lower level family room, and it seems the general consensus was a big thumbs up!
Today’s room is the kitchen/bar area in that same lower level. An open and airy spot with great views of the outdoors, and design elements that made it so warm and inviting.
The cabinets in this area are stained in the same warm walnut as the family room, creating a seamless transition between the two areas. Beautiful gray tile floors laid in an offset pattern and a unique backsplash are right on trend, and both provide a nice contrast against the cabinets.
Design quick tip: To add extra interest to your lighting situation, opt for 2 or 3 pendant lights versus one large fixture.
There wasn’t a bar in this area, but instead a large open space that easily accommodated our pub tables and bar stools. A great set up, really, that allows more versatility than a built-in bar.
And, speaking of pub tables and bar stools – we tried out a few variations in the space during our photo shoot and they all looked great!
First up was our Braden Drop Leaf Counter-Height Table and Braden Counter Stools. Their relaxed style was a perfect fit for the space, and we liked the way the black finish looked against the stained wood. (Bonus: the table comes with it’s own wine storage and cubbies for extra storage or display.)
The other option we chose was the Cameron Pub Table and, since it comes with two stool options, we tried both! You saw the Spindle Counter Stool midway through this post, and the Cameron Upholstered Stools are below.
(You may have also noticed where we mixed it up with both stool options in our post on How To Choose the Right Bar Stool Height.)
A cozy and convenient space perfect for serving up appetizers for the big game, or hosting a family game night! Wouldn’t you agree?
