There’s just something about a cozy nook, isn’t there?
The things we do there – relaxing with our morning coffee, reading, creating, web surfing, or whatever it is that you do – could all probably just as easily be done somewhere else.
But doing these things in a special, designated spot seems to elevate normal activities (or inactivity) and make them that much more enjoyable.
The nice thing about nooks is that they don’t necessarily have to be in a recessed area or hidden away from the rest of the house, like we sometimes think of a nook. They can really be created anywhere that you decide will work for you and your home.
Reserve a corner of the bedroom or home office, create a special spot in the family room, or set aside a chair in the living room. Any of these can function as your cozy nook.
Creating a nook is really as easy as 1, 2, 3.
1. Comfy chair.
Start with your favorite cozy and comfortable chair.
2. A table.
Add a side or an accent table.
We loved the versatility of the nesting tables that we used in these vignettes, but choose whatever works best for your space. (Storage tables are also nice because they keep everything close at hand – already there when you’re ready for some down time.)
Create ambience and add interest with a great lamp.
Once you have the 3 basics in place, layer in a few of your favorite accessories to make your space feel cozy and inviting. A place you’ll look forward to starting your day, relaxing at the end of the day, or hanging out in any time.
Where is your favorite nook in your home? If you don’t have one, maybe it’s time to create one!
